With the sleekness of the jungle cat whose name he bears, T'Challa - King of Wakanda - stalks both the concrete city and the undergrowth of the Veldt. So it has been for countless generations of warrior kings, so it is today, and so it shall be the smart, and the strong survive! Noble champion, Vigilant protector.

This series takes place immediately after the events in Black Panther vol. 2 #11

Currently deposed king of Wakanda, a technologically advanced country the size of New Jersey which is the main source of Vibranium. T'challa, a reserve Avenger, comes from a long line of Wakandan kings, becoming the ruler following Klaw’s brutal murder of T’chaka. T’challa is near the peak of human fitness, has enhanced senses, catlike reflexes, and a vast array of Wakandan devices to aid him in his battles.
Lynne, MonicaLynne, Monica
Former Jazz singer and Social Worker, Miss Lynne first met T'challa while he was serving as an Avenger. The two fell in love and he brought her back to Wakanda where they were eventually engaged. That however did not last long and she now feels quite a bit of resentment towards the Black Panther because of the many times she has been used as bait for him.
MendinaoMendinao
Mendinao is perhaps the most respected physician in all of Wakanda. He combines a blend of both modern cutting edge techniques with traditional herbal practices in his work at the Wakandan Medical Center, as well as being a prominent voice in the tribal council, and most respected of the elders.
NakiaNakia
Personal Bodyguard to T'challa. One of the Dora Milaje, a ceremonial role designed to keep the peace between the tribes of Wakanda. She is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, capable of using lethal force.
N'GassiN'Gassi
A wise elder and advisor to T'challa, who once governed in his place during one of his absences. He is strong believer in the ancient beliefs and religions, and he never lies.
OkoyeOkoye
The Black Panther's chauffeur and one of the Dora Milaje, a ceremonial role designed to keep the peace between the tribes of Wakanda. She is a highly skilled fighter, capable of using lethal force.
Tork, Sergeant GeraldTork, Sergeant Gerald
A shotgun-toting police officer who works the New Lots district of New York city. Tork takes no rubbish from anyone, and has grown a healthy respect for the Wakandan King.
White WolfWhite Wolf
The former head of the Wakandan version of the CIA. As soon as T'challa gained the throne he fired the Hunter, as he did not agree to his methods. The White Wolf is now trying to regain the King's good graces but is having trouble changing his old ways.
W'KabiW'Kabi
The head of Court Security. He disproves of outlander ways, and even lost respect for his king for a time as a result of T'challa's long absence from his homeland when he was serving as an Avenger . He is skilled with many types of weaponry and combat, and his left arm is a prosthetic, which can be detached and replaced with a laser or a super-strong metal arm.
ZuriZuri
Friend and confidant of the late King T'chaka. Mentor, bodyguard and surrogate uncle to the current king, T'challa. He is one of the greatest warriors in Wakanda, and has developed a horrific temper.
