| Long ago, a technologically advanced race provided vast scientific understanding to a much younger planet. Lacking the enlightenment which would have accompanied discovering the force-fed technology for themselves, this young race destroyed itself in worldwide holocaust. Henceforth their well-meaning benefactors would be known as the Watchers, existing under a solemn vow of non-interference, recording the history of the multiverse. They believed their inaction would prevent tragedies such as the genocide they had enabled.
